Washington Monument

One day on mid October, 19th 2009, about 12 STAMPS students headed for the Washington Monument.

We headed for Union Station and went on the Metro to the Smithsonian Stop. There we went to the Washington Monument. On the way we met Park Ranger Jen and Ranger Bethany.

We went inside and waited in a big line to get to the top.

When we got to the elevator, it went non stop to the top of the monument. We could see a lot of D.C. from where we were.

Ranger Jen brought a paper "Flat Stanley" to the monument and took pictures with him.

Downstairs one floor was a little museum on the monument. That was small so we finished quickly and went to the elevator. We were supposed to see the bricks on the way down but the stairs were poorly conditioned at the time. We left the monument and walked outside it. There we got our official passport for whenever we go to a National Park.

We left and that was the first and not the last National Park we went to for the school year.
